Power on Earth, Le Ly Hayslip, "When Heaven And Earth Changed Places"-APHORISM
Le Ly talks to Anh, the father of her first son, in this chapter. Anh says some powerful words to Le Ly. He says; "'Overcoming our pain from the war. Learning to trust when we're afraid. Learning to honor the past while letting go of it at the same time. These are the things you came to Vietnam to learn, Bay Ly- isn't that so? Perhaps it's your turn now to teach'"(273). Anh uses APHORISM in this quote. This quote is important because Anh explains to Bay Ly that she has been taught all of her life about how to live, behavior, and love. Anh is saying that it is Le Ly's time to change things and teach others how to live, behavior, and love. She is a very knowledgeable person and people can learn great things from her. The best way to share the knowledge and wisdom she has it to teach it to others. Younger generations in today's world need to learn from the older generations, but the older generations need to teach them. Our life works out the way it should when we learn from others. People have lived before us and has survived so we know what we can do too. Teaching and learning help the world go around.
