Almost in Paradise, Le Ly Hayslip, "When Heaven And Earth Changed Places"- SIMILE

Le Ly got a job at the hospital in Danang and she loves it. She uses SIMILES in this chapter a couple of times and says that the hospital was like a day in paradise. Le Ly also makes a comment to herself about the way she feels about the people at the hospital. She writes, "This is heaven! I thought. Strangers come to solve your problems even before you ask for help!"(275). She continues to talk about the hospital like it is a paradise and heaven because that atmosphere is new to her. Le Ly does not have a perfect life right now even working in the hospital, even though it feels like she does, but the job makes her happy. Being happy under horrible circumstances is a good thing to do in life. Make the best of what you have is a good saying in today's world.
