Letting Go, Le Ly Hayslip, "When Heaven And Earth Changed Places"- RESOLUTION

Le Ly came home to Vietnam from America so she could let go of her past and not feel so bad about the way she left her homeland. This is the last chapter of the book and the RESOLUTION of it too. She writes, "For a glistening instant, Ky La dances before my eyes, then vanishes into memory"(362). Her life in Vietnam and the village of Ky La is only a memory with her now. She has let go of her past life in Vietnam and has moved towards her new life in America. This ending is sad but happy because she has to leave the only family she has ever known but she knows she will have a better life in America with her sons. People still have to let go of their past lives to live in the present and future lives. This has not changed for people in today's world. Letting go is painful but going forward is life.
